The test professional of the future

Myroslava Garasym

QMO Director, SoftServe

Technologies are becoming more and more complex. Software is becoming more and more complex. The need and importance of software testing is accepted across the globe. What, when, and how to test are areas that have never stopped evolving. Very often to make sure that software is qualitative, we need deep technical knowledge to test it not only “traditionally”, acting as end-user by simulating his actions, but from inside. Sometimes, lack of technical and programming skills in QA people makes effective and efficient software testing hardly possible. I will talk about such roles as SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) and/or SET (Software Engineer in Test) which are widely used in the industry of software development but not so popular in Ukraine so far.

A test framework out of the box - Geb for Web and mobile.

The report will be discussing the test framework GEB for testing WEB applications and Mobile. The report will be useful for those who want to know how fast to write tests in the programming language Groovy, and not think about framework, PageObject and initializing the WebDriver. Framework is difficult - no! I will show a method that allows you to think about testing the app and not on the structure of the code.

Why developers do refuse to implement automatic tests?

In this talk we discuss cultural, behavioral, managerial and technical reasons, why developers refuse to implement automatic tests. Refusal is observed on all levels: developers don't write automatic tests, managers don't put automatic tests in project plans, and even clients or customers believe that doing automatic tests is waste of time and money. As a result: end users suffer of low quality applications. Why and how to fix all mentioned problems? It is a topic of this talk.
